12 June 2024 – INSPIRATION FROM THE STEPPE

We are honoured to have Håkan Wallander and Máté Tálas @turquoiseturtleplants coming to Klinta for a day full of inspiration from the steppe.

Máté has gathered a lot of knowledge from his many field trips studying the complex habitats of the steppes in the wild, and by growing a wide range of steppe plants in his native Hungary. He will give us two presentations during the day about different habitats and put the whole steppe into context.

Author and professor in Soil Biology at Lund University, Sweden, Håkan Wallander will discuss the complexity of soil and its many different organisms. A special focus will be put on mycorrhizal fungi, which forms symbiotic associations with plants to improve nutrient uptake, essential in drier climates like that of the steppes.

In between the talks Peter Korn will do guided tours in the garden at Klinta to study our sandbeds and the cultivation of steppe plants in southern Sweden.

It will be a day full of inspiration and interesting discussions!
All talks and tours will be in English.
